Ursina Gabriela Roesch, also known as urgart, is a transdisciplinary multimedia artist, curator, and feminist activist from Zurich. Her work combines visual art, photography, language-based art, and sound to create poetic-theoretical (“poetheoretical”) interventions that question social and human structures as well as patterns of perception.

Raised between Zurich, Baden, and Boswil—surrounded by international artists—she grew up in an environment deeply shaped by art and culture. In the early 1980s, she lived and worked in Paris, one of her central artistic reference points. Particularly influential were the philosophical seminars with Hélène Cixous, which left a lasting imprint on her thinking and artistic language.

Roesch’s art transcends traditional genre boundaries and understands itself as a form of social intervention. Her works open up new perspectives on art, language, society, and gender roles. She is therefore also referred to as a “DJ of the Alphabet” and “Director of Art.”
As the initiator of FAT – Femme Artist Table and the FATart Fair, she has been a committed advocate for the visibility and rights of women & FLINTA* in the art world since 2016.

Roesch has lived and worked internationally, including in Berlin, London, Paris, Schaffhausen, and Zurich. Her artistic achievements have been recognized with numerous awards.

In addition to her artistic practice, she is active in feminist initiatives, contributes to Wikipedia, and continuously works to make women’s art visible within a growing community. Her powerful artistic and societal contributions make her a voice that brings movement into the art world — an artist who keeps us in motion.
